Passion for Equestrian Sport

Melanie Wyatt is a Sandhills native. She started her horse career breaking race horses for 17 years, won a steeplechase and flat race and finished the trifecta with a win as a trainer. When she decided to leave racing, she started competing and did hunter shows and eventing, riding through preliminary. Foxtrack hosted the best beginner horse trials and hunter shows back in the day!

When her niece started riding, Mel switched to teaching lessons and had a large kids program that included summer camps! Now we have an active adult program.

She has  been hunting with Moore County Hounds since 1970, but absolutely fell in love with whipping in. She is so fortunate to be able to act as whipper-in for MCH since the early 80’s. Now, the whole barn rides to hounds and has so much fun together.
